My Philosophy
“Processing” kids through Sunday is important, making sure they are always safe and well cared for in every way. But equally, we need to keep the primary aim and focus on “pastoring” them. More than any other generation, today’s elementary student is confronted with moral challenges from every direction, and forced to grapple with difficult issues and circumstances. As a church, we need to be there for them, helping them to connect their confusing and complex world to a loving God who has the answers.”
About Jerry
HUSBAND FATHER PASTOR AUTHOR SPEAKER
As founder and President of Big Toe Resource Group, Jerry is the lead trainer and go-to expert on the pedagogy and content of kidTOUGH™, a 1st–6th grade large/small group curriculum for churches designed to “teach rock-solid truths that help kids hang tough.” Jerry overseas the development, theological roadmap, and marketing direction of the curriculum. As a children’s and family pastor with 25+ of ministry service, Jerry serves as a consultant and trainer to children’s leaders nationwide, teaching foundational ministry.
Big Toe Resource Group (BTRG) was formed in 2005 with the idea of “helping children’s ministries put their best foot forward.” Working alongside a consortium of pastors and community leaders, Jerry stepped out, in faith, to build a curriculum firmly planted on teaching that aims true (Christ-centered), shoots straight (engaging), and hits the mark (life application). In addition, they put much thought into making it simple to prepare and use, volunteer friendly, uniquely engaging, and available to consume for any environment, ministry construct or church size. kidTOUGH™ is also free, because the Gospel should be free.
Jerry’s passion is to provide churches with a simple and practical method to effectively communicate the Gospel in a fun, engaging way, allowing a child to place themselves right in the middle of God’s grand story. Knowing who they firmly are in Christ gives them the courage and the tools to Trust in the Lord, Obey His commands, Unite in a close friendship with Jesus, Grow in the Word, and Honor both God and others, regardless of their tough circumstances.
